Today's Special Day Assembly Expenses and the $10,499 Deficit. Silent Majority?
by Tenacious intoday i attended a one-day assembly in my hometown.
i knew when it came time to read the afternoon expenses that it would be an incredibly high and ridiculous amount that was nowhere near the real expenses for that day.
sure enough, after lunch came the announcement.

$11,000? ..... Did they make an announcement that they would like to send the leftovers to "Mother"? Did they ask for a consensus? and did everyone clap? -

If you are going to believe in the Bible, you need to ask, 'Why would God need to "change light"?' Give "new" light?
Another scripture says, "Satan is an angel of light"
JWs always wonder, "What "new light" will we get at this year's convention?"

Need clarification from someone who speaks JW: What is an "apostate" ...or... an "apostate website?"

The term "Apostate" is used like a cross to keep evil spirits away.
Having a problem understanding? Can't explain? Don't know how to answer?
Call the source an 'apostate', and everything is all better again. You don't have to think about it anymore. Done..... Gone.....

I agree with all before me, and from my observations (looking back in life... even within JWville) it does take about 2 years to develop a good friendship. Like AudeSapere said, invite yourself to join your workmates for coffee, or an outing. Having fun with someone is the beginning of everything!

The Heartless JW
by babygirl30 insoooo...i have recently been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, and am scared out of my mind.
in a weak moment, i called my parents and my mom answered.
i start crying as i tell her about my disease, and this woman says to me:.

Grrrrrr..... so sorry your mom treats you like that! I would not have done so to my child even if I was a JW and they were DF'd. It seems that there are treatments to help you with your condition, hugs to you, grrrrrrs to your mom ;-)
PS: I am not DF'd, I just don't go to meetings, and wished that Candace Conti would win her court trial so that the WT would change it's policies, and my mom treats me as if I am DF'd. Very controlled by the Borg.

True believers never save their money
by stillin init's an article of faith.
either god is going to save them or he is not.
since one local elder proudly told me that he never saved a nickel until just before his retirement, i've given this subject some thought.. savers are worldly..

I feel trapped...I might return to the Borg....
by JustHuman14 ini have being thinking quite a while before posting.
actually i haven't post for quite a long in the forum and i guess i'm one of the old ones, since i became member since 2001.. after leaving the borg for almost 16 years and disfellowshiped 10 years ago.
you can see my relevant post:.

Hi JustHuman14, so sorry you are sick. I guess I would consider all factors, like: will you soon be debilitated? Are you limited in life years?
If you will need total physical support soon, that is one thing, if you have hope of recovery, that's another.
Taking that all into consideration, "coming back" (into this"loving organization") can be hell. Like all the other posters have stated, there are power trippin' people out there that can make it hard on you. You are right, it should be like the "Prodigal Son" arms open, banquet planning! But, alas, it's not.
If hypocrisy and evil get to you, and you can't take the stress, maybe it's better to live w/o it... If you can take the "dont we looooove this new teaching" (& it's cool w/ you to be reading the tablet/ posting here during the meeting) go for it.....
Like all have said, do what YOU need to do....
Maybe looking up articles (better yet, scriptures) about taking care of loved ones, even if DF'd, will convince them to help.
I hope you make it, let us know how it goes, please!

The elderly sisters are at it again.
by John Aquila inawhile back, about a year and a half ago, when i was starting to wake up, i explained to my mom that when the circuit overseer is in town, they schedule shepherding calls after lunch, not because they care, but because they dont want to work door to door in the hot summer or cold winter.
and they know that a prepared call means some nice hot chocolate and cookies or some ice cold tea and snacks.
i remember her looking at me kind of funny so i ended the conversation and left it at that, and never brought it up again.

I do know from my husband, an elder, that at "Circuit Assembly's" they had money enough to pay for their expenses, told people they needed more, got more $$, then asked all elders if they should send the extra to NY.
One older brother in our hall, asked the head honcho about this in front of all (during one of those "elder meetings" at the CA) and he even asked if this type of statement to the brothers and sisters wasn't dishonest. He was given a joe blow schmo type of answer, that basically meant "this is what we do, now be quiet."
So sad that the pressure to "conform" over rules the pressure to "do what is right."

Royal Commission taking our emails to heart
by wannaexit induring the proceedings of australian royal commission, as many of you, i also took time to share with the office of mr stewart, my thoughts and perspective on what what being said and not said by the witness elders on the stand.
within a day a received a reply from office of angus stewart thanking and appreciating the insight from those on the "inside".
yesterday i received a further email that my correspondence was passed on to case study 29 (jehovah's witnesses) team for their consideration.. it sounds like they are taking all our collective experience and knowledge into account as the commission continues its work..

My reply (like AFRIKANMAN) was from the CEO of the ARC - Philip Reed.
I included quotes from WTs re: 29 But if a bull was formerly in the habit of goring and warning was served on its owner but he would not keep it under guard, and it did put a man or a woman to death, the bull is to be stoned and also its owner is to be put to death.
WT 06 3/1 Consider the principle discussed at Deuteronomy 22:8. The Israelite who constructed a new home was required to build a parapet around the flat roof, which was often used to entertain guests.
hy? “That you may not place bloodguilt upon your house because someone falling might fall from it.” In a similar way, what you do—without imposing unreasonable restrictions—to protect your guests at a social gathering should be with their physical and spiritual interests at heart.
If someone fell because this safety law had not been observed, God held the owner responsible. No doubt, application of the loving principle embodied in this law would minimize accidents at the workplace or even in recreation.
Included was the quote from Matt 18:4-6 4 Therefore, whoever will humble himself like this young child is the one that is the greatest in the kingdom of the heavens; 5 and whoever receives one such young child on the basis of my name receives me [also]. 6 But whoever stumbles one of these little ones who put faith in me, it is more beneficial for him to have hung around his neck a millstone such as is turned by an ass and to be sunk in the wide, open sea.
Jesus wants his rulers in the kingdom to be humble, they will be the greatest…
· Humble means obeying the law, reporting pedophiles, changing your “system”
· Jesus says IF YOU STUMBLE them, put a millsone around their neck, toss to sea
I also mentioned that the WT could tell it's people "report to the police" and nothing would prevent them from carrying on with their treasured "inside" trials that "require" two witnesses.
